Dr. Jamie Smith has served as a behavioral and developmental consultant for Bayshore Unified School District since 2019. In this role, she equips educators across all grade levels with tools to implement positive behavioral strategies, fostering supportive environments where children can emotionally thrive. Dr. Smith also works closely with families, guiding them on their parenting journeys by helping them understand their children’s needs, support their development, and strengthen parent-child relationships.
She holds a BA in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College, dual master’s degrees in Early Childhood Education and Organizational Leadership from National University, and a doctorate in Education from Fielding Graduate University, where her research focused on the impact of anti-racist learning communities. Additionally, she is a certified Professional Growth Adviser in Early Childhood Education for the California Department of Education.
Building on her experience teaching and directing preschool and school-age programs from 2000–2010, Dr. Smith has taught Early Childhood Education and Child Development courses at universities throughout the Bay Area since 2010. Her approach emphasizes reflective practice and relationship-building, promoting intentional play-based strategies that nurture children’s growth and inspire lifelong learning for both educators and families. Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time with her two adult children and planning or embarking on international travel adventures.
